Behind the fabric, the color and the style, the idea of the recliner predates the era of mass production. After a lull in popularity during the nineteen seventies, the recliner has once again become an essential piece of living room furniture.
Most of us think of recliners as a comfortable chair with the capability to recline back. Most of us are familiar with the lever on the side of the chair to raise the leg rest.
The recline function of these chairs has been automated with motorized controls. A recliner may use one or two motors depending on their design. In most cases, the recline function for the chair back and the leg rest can be controlled easily.
A lift ‐chair is a recliner with a motorized mechanism that shoves the "chair" up from it’s base, making it easier to get up from the seat. Lift chairs come in dissimilar shapes or sizes, so it’s easy to find one to fit every‐body type. This type of recliner is usually notably more high‐priced than rockers or wall‐huggers.
