The most basic function of a recliner is to recline back. Today’s recliners have motorized controls to lower the chair back and raise the leg rest. Of course, there are still those operated by a manual lever on the side.
Manual control levers are now being replaced with powered recline systems. A powered recline is a great way to go to find the exact position comfortable for you. These powered systems usually include the chair back and the leg rest.
By the 1970’ these comfy relics found their way to basements and garages. In fact, this may have been the birth of the "Man Cave" concept widely known today. Changes in taste seemed to lean toward saving space.
A lift ‐chair is a recliner with a motorized mechanism that shoves the "chair" up from it’s base, making it easier to get up from the seat. Lift chairs come in dissimilar shapes or sizes, so it’s easy to find one to fit every‐body type. This type of recliner is usually notably more high‐priced than rockers or wall‐huggers.
